This is a coil that uses a pressed iron core made from nickel-iron alloy permalloy powder. It features good DC superimposed characteristics against large currents, with very little change in properties with temperature. Additionally, it has low iron loss at high frequencies, allowing for a compact design compared to ferrite cores.
